The single greatest hold of the Moto family isn’t a world at all, but the largest battlecruiser in the galaxy. In the time of galactic expansion, the Unicorn have in many ways reverted to their long-held nomadic ways, preferring to explore the galaxy as much as possible rather than tie themselves to one place. For no group is this more true than the Moto, whose seat is a massive world-ship that travels the galaxy, frequently making berth in the ports of other clans (largely possible due to the Unicorn’s tendency, in the 4th millennium, of getting along with pretty much all the other factions).
The Chomchog isn’t quite as heavily-armed as some smaller capital ships (although it’s still formidable), but that’s by design; many of the existing armament bays have been converted to create as much housing as possible. Though more of the Unicorn range about in their own ships than any other clan, the Moto being no exception, all consider the Chomchog – wherever it currently berths – to be the home of their family.
When the Rokugani took to the stars, the first planet they found was a lush forest world closely influenced by Chikushudo, the Realm of Animals. Though it was wild, it was also surprisingly hospitable, with temperate climates and largely-benign animal and plant life. All the clans scrambled to settle the world temporarily, but the one to which it was ultimately given was the first clan to arrive: the Unicorn. Today, owing in part to its central galactic location and in part to its importance to Rokugani cultural history, First Landing is one of the richest and most successful colonies within the Empire of Emerald Stars, and the central base of operations for the Shinjo family.
