The Destroyer War could’ve been much worse were it not stopped before it reached the borders of Rokugan – one look at the state of the Ivory Kingdoms in its wake makes that clear. Though the Rhumaal were not wiped out by the disastrous conflict against the cult of Kali-Ma, the survivors were in no position to rebuild. Instead, they sought a different solution for survival: the Mantis. They petitioned their longtime allies within the Emerald Empire for client status, and over the strenuous objections of the Lion and Scorpion, the Radiant Emperor agreed to allow these refugees to essentially become servants of the Mantis, some of them even taking the Yoritomo name and joining the clan. The remnants of the Ivory Kingdoms were eventually relocated to a small planet they named Aaivaree Aasha within the borders of Mantis Clan territory, where they still serve Mantis interests today – sometimes being thoroughly taken advantage of by their Yoritomo masters in the process.
